Gold Forge customizations

Public source for the Gold Forge community Git hosting interface and companion scripts, running on Forgejo 17.0.1.

Contents

  • custom/templates/: home page, footer, language selector placement and login hooks.
  • custom/public/assets/: dark gold theme, site styles, pixel logo and about page.
  • scripts/gh-sync.py: GitHub code, wiki and release synchronization for GoldenNugget.
  • scripts/easyverbs-release-sync.py: EasyVerbs release synchronization; code uses a Forgejo pull mirror.
  • scripts/forgejo-avatars.py: GitHub author avatars and locally generated fallback identicons.
  • scripts/forgejo-newusers.py: pending registration checks and generic notification delivery.

Deployment notes

This is a reviewed source export, not a server backup or a one-command installer. Example hostnames and loopback addresses replace deployment-specific addresses. Review paths, repository owners, URLs and permissions before use.

Copy the required contents of custom/ into your Forgejo custom directory, back up your configuration and configure the gold-forge UI theme. Templates target Forgejo 17.0.1 and may require changes after updates. Restart Forgejo after template changes. The scripts require Python 3 and, where used, Git and curl.

The token and notification files referenced by the scripts are deliberately not included. Create your own credentials with minimal permissions. Never commit a live app.ini, database, token, session, certificate private key, log, backup or private repository.

The about page contains Gold Forge-specific community rules and a public Discord invitation. Replace these for another deployment. Legal documents are intentionally excluded: they are deployment-specific and require review. Links to those documents in templates need corresponding local pages.

Scope

This repository contains our customizations, not the full upstream Forgejo source. Forgejo itself is available at https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo and is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later. No upstream Go code or Forgejo binary is included.

Customizations in this repository are made available under AGPL-3.0-or-later; see LICENSE and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md. Branding permission and third-party trademarks are not implied by the code license.
